Il-Front Kontra t-TTIP [Trattat Transatlantiku għall-Kummerċ u l-Investiment] għamel użu miż-żiemel ta’ Trojja biex iwassal il-messaġġ li n-negozjati bejn l-Unjoni Ewropeja u l-Istati Uniti tal-Amerika jista’ jwassal għal tnaqqis fl-istandards ambjentali fl-Ewropa.

Dan jinfirex mill-kwalita tal-ikel sal-istandards dwar is-sigurta tal-karozzi. Jistgħu jkunu effettwati ukoll l-istandards dwar il-kontroll tal-kimiċi perikolużi.

Dan kollu minħabba li fil-parti l-kbira tal-każi hemm differenzi sostanzjali bejn ir-regolamenti fl-Unjoni Ewropeja u l-Istati Uniti, b’dawk ta’l-Ewropa jkunu iktar stretti.

It-Trattat Transatlantiku għall-Kummerċ u l-Investiment ipoġġi l-interess tal-flus qabel in-nies.

Prosit lill-għaqdiet ambjentali li jiffurmaw il-Front Kontra it-TTIP [Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership] li tul din il-ġimgħa ser imexxu l-quddiem kampanja ta’ informazzjoni dwar dan.

Dimostrazzjoni favur Ikel Nadif

GMO free

Iktar tard illum, il-Moviment favur l-Ikel Nadif (Clean Food Movement) ser jorganizza March kontra Monsanto 2014.

Dan il-Moviment huwa magħmul minn 21 għaqda, l-parti l-kbira minnhom għaqdiet ambjentali.

Il-Moviment Ikel Nadif qed jitlob li tkun imħarsa l-ekoloġija fraġli tal-gżejjer Maltin u li b’mod partikolari Malta tkun dikjarata żona ħielsa mill-Ikel Ġenetikament Modifikat (GMO Free Zone).

Il-Moviment għall-Ikel Nadif qed jitolbu lill-Membri Parlamentari Ewropej eletti f’isem Malta biex jieħdu l-istess posizzjoni kemm individwalment kif ukoll fil-gruppi politiċi tagħhom.

Għandu jkun ċar għal kulħadd x’inhuma l-impatt tal-ftehim li qiegħed jiġi negozjat prezentement bejn l-Unjoni Ewropeja u l-Istati Uniti dwar il-Kummerċ, it-TTIP (Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership). L-impatti tiegħu għandfhom ikunu mgħarbla kif ukoll għandu jkun suġġett għal skrutinju demokratiku.

Il-produzzjoni tal-ikel f’Malta teħtieġ skrutinju aħjar biex ikun assigurat il-ħarsien tal-konsumatur Malti minn abbużi diversi li jistgħu jirriżultaw f’diversi sustanzi kimiċi fl-ikel Malti.

Snippets from the EGP Manifesto: (2) Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP)

EU-USA

The European Green Party 2014 Electoral Manifesto makes the position of the Greens clear on the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership(TTIP).

It states the following: Presently, many bilateral EU trade deals are being negotiated, in particular the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) with the United States. Greens contest the lack of transparency of these negotiations, where important democratic choices are on the agenda. Greens not only defend our environmental, health, agriculture and food, consumer and labour standards, public interests and data protection, but also the possibility of strengthening them to implement the Green New Deal. We oppose biotech and toxic financial products marketed in the US being automatically approved for the EU. We draw clear red lines against any weakening of EU legislation. We refuse, through the inclusion of international investor-state dispute settlement in trade agreements, to allow private companies to sue democratically elected governments in order to protect corporate interests against social or environmental reforms. We mobilize against any trade agreement that does not honour these principles and therefore we oppose TTIP in its current form. ((EGP 2014 Manifesto section entitled  : For a Fair Trade Policy).
