Il-PN u Anġelik f’Borġ in-Nadur

Angelik-Caruana

Il-Partit Nazzjonalista għaddej minn proċess diffiċli. Irid jipprova jikkonvinċi lilu innifsu u lill-oħrajn li nidem mill-ħsara kbira li għamel lill-ambjent tul il-25 sena (jew kważi) li għamel fil-Gvern.

Sal-lum, id-difiża tal-PN dejjem kienet li ħaddieħor għamel (u għadu jagħmel) ħafna agħar minn hekk. Imma dak l-argument (anke jekk għandu mill-verita) ma kkonvinċa lil ħadd.

Issa ser jorganizzaw Konvenzjoni “Idea Ambjent” biex jisimgħu ftit.

Li tisma’ hu dejjem tajjeb. Hu dejjem pass il-quddiem. Għax dejjem hemm iċ-ċans li titgħallem ftit.

Imma inti u tipprova tifhem u titgħallem ikollok bżonn tiftakar ukoll dak li għamilt diġa b’mod partikolari kif dan jikkuntrasta ma dak li qed tgħid illum.

Jiena nieħu pjaċir li l-PN qed jgħid li għandu jagħti iktar kaz tal-ambjent għax ifisser li l-ħidma ta’ Alternattiva Demokratika qed tagħti ħafna iktar frott milli jidher mad-daqqa t’għajn. Imma sfortunatament mhux l-ewwel darba li ntqal dan il-kliem. Intqal ħafna drabi oħra biex jimpressjona. Għax mir-retorika l-PN qatt ma kien nieqes.

Tiftakru id-diskors mit-Tron li kien qara l-President Eddie Fenech Adami f’Mejju 2008 fejn kien qal li l-Gvern (immexxi mill-PN) ser ipoġġi l-iżvilupp sostenibbli bħala l-pedament tal-ħidma kollha tiegħu? Kien qal hekk :

“ ……………. il-Gvern qiegħed jipproponi li jimplimenta programm politiku li jkollu l-iżvilupp sostenibbli bħala l-fus ċentrali li madwaru jdur kollox.

Għall-Gvern, it-tħaddim tal-proġett ta’ żvilupp sostenibbli hu proposta ta’ għażla fondamentali mill-poplu Malti u Għawdxi.  Hija għażla konxja li f’kull deċiżjoni ma nqisux biss l-interessi immedjati tagħna, iżda wkoll dawk tal-ġenerazzjonijiet futuri.”

L-anqas laħqet nixfet il-linka fuq il-karta tad-diskors mit-tron li l-PN beda proċess biex il-Kummissjoni Nazzjonali għall-Iżvilupp Sostenibbli tispiċċa. Il-Kummissjoni kienet il-fus li fuqu u permezz tiegħu kienet qed tkun implimentata l-iktar parti importanti tal-proċess tal-żvilupp sostenibbli: id-demokratizzazzjoni tiegħu. Il-PN wara li ma ħallihiex tiltaqa’ għal ħames snin sħaħ xolja din il-Kummissjoni.

Komplejna pass pass bil-ħsara ambjentali ma tispiċċa qatt, li dwarha ktibt diversi drabi fuq dan il-blogg.

Il-PN, jgħidulna, irid jibda paġna ġdida. Għandu kull dritt li jagħmel dan, imma l-paġni l-oħra, irid u ma jridx ser jibqgħu hemm. Kull waħda minnhom tfakkarna u tikkuntrasta mal-fantasiji li qed jipprietka l-PN illum.

Għax jekk ninsew il-bieraħ, il-prietki tal-PN tal-lum ikunu qieshom il-prietki ta’ Anġelik f’Borġ in-Nadur: il-ħrejjef ta’ min irid ibella r-ross bil-labra.

Real and imaginary referenda

Kacca + Vot

The abrogative referendum which was given the green light by Malta’s Constitutional Court earlier this month is the first of its kind. It is a referendum which, if successful, will delete from Malta’s statute book regulations which permit spring hunting on quail and turtledove.

In its efforts to  build up support in favour of the retention of spring hunting, the hunting lobby has been repeatedly sending out the message that if this referendum were to succeed, it would pave the way for a multitude of other referenda which, in their words, would threaten various hobbies which they label as minorities. They mention a few of these hobbies  among which pigeon racing.  Obviously, they fail to state that the only real threat to racing pigeon enthusiasts here are those who shoot at anything that flies. And it is not just a one-off incident.

The hunting lobby is not enthusiastic  about the referendum process enhancing democracy in our islands by granting the possibility to voters to demand that a specific legislative instrument is subjected to a  popular vote. They would rather that such a right did not exist.  As witnessed throughout recent years, the hunting lobby prefers the option to acquire concessions through back room deals and agreements with political parties arrived at through a process of bartering votes for concessions.  The statement “NO Kaċċa, NO vote” has been all too familiar in public manifestations organised by the hunting lobby throughout the years.

The abrogative referendum in Malta was introduced through amendments to the Referendum Act approved by Parliament in 1996. Going through the transcripts of the Parliamentary Debate of the 15th and  16th January 1996 reveals an interesting contrast between the speeches of Eddie Fenech Adami, then Prime Minister, and Alfred Sant, then Leader of the Opposition, in the second reading stage of the debate.

Dr Fenech Adami  spoke in favour of a limited right of referendum – limited in the sense that a set of identified legislative instruments could not be subjected to an abrogative referendum.  On the other hand, Dr Sant wanted to extend the limitations. In fact, he emphasised that once a political proposal was part of a political party’s electoral manifesto it should not be possible to subject it to the abrogative referendum process.  Fenech Adami and Sant had also disagreed on whether  it was the appropriate time to introduce a citizens’ initiative through which rather than using the referendum as a negative instrument to cancel a legislative instrument, it would be utilised to submit a proposal to popular vote.  This could take the form of a proposal that Parliament should legislate on a specific matter, or even possibly that policies be drafted relative to neglected issues.

The conclusions of the 1996 debate are with us today, being applied for the first time: Parliament decided to introduce the right to petition for the deletion of legislation. It did not opt to introduce the right to propose new initiatives.

When Parliament decided on the parameters within which the abrogative referendum was to operate, it specifically excluded a number of laws – the Constitution, the European Convention Act and all fiscal legislation; also, all matters required in  implementing any international treaty to which Malta is party cannot be subjected to an abrogative referendum. Likewise, the legislative measures introducing the right to an abrogative referendum as well as electoral legislation cannot be the subject of a petition leading to an abrogative referendum.

When identifying the subject matter for a referendum, the petitioners, with the help of their advisors, examine the different legislative instruments  which deal with the issues under consideration.  Care must be exercised such that the legislation selected as the subject of the referendum does not go beyond what is strictly required. For the 11 April referendum the Coalition for the Abolition of Spring Hunting opted for a 2010 Legal Notice  entitled Framework for Allowing a Derogation Opening a Spring Hunting Season for Turtle Dove and Quail Regulations as the legislative instrument to be voted upon. In so doing, the Coalition’s referendum petition differentiated between the general regulatory legislation on wild birds and the legislation which defined the exceptions which are being permitted during spring. The target of the abrogative referendum being the exception to the rule.

As a result the referendum petition is clear and specific and leads to one conclusion: the abolition or otherwise of spring hunting in Malta. This is the only referendum on the national agenda .

Insellem lil John Camilleri

John Camilleri

Insellem lil John Camilleri li miet il-bieraħ kmieni fil-għodu fl-eta ta’ 67 sena.

Sirt nafu 38 sena ilu. Kont għadni fl-ewwel ġranet tiegħi bħala student fl-Università ta’ Malta. John kien technician fil-laboratorji tad-Dipartiment tal-Fiżika tal-Università.  Kienu ftit ġranet wara l-elezzjoni tal-1976 u d-diskussjoni fuq fomm kulħadd kienet dwar il-ħtieġa li l-Partit Nazzjonalista jorganizza ruħu wara t-tieni telfa elettorali konsekuttiva.

John Camilleri kien fuq quddiem biex jara li dan seħħ. Sena qabel kien sar taqlib kbir amministrattiv fil-PN u John kien inħatar l-ewwel Segretarju Organizzattiv tal-PN bl-inkarigu li l-partit jorganizza ruħu b’mod partikolari fl-ibliet u l-irħula ta’ Malta u Għawdex. Dan kien l-ewwel pass għal tibdila mill-qiegħ li kien tant jeħtieġ il-PN.

F’Ottubru 1976 il-ħidma biex jinbidel George Borg Olivier li kienet ilha li bdiet, irrankat u  fil-fatt tlett xhur wara ġie elett Eddie Fenech Adami bħala Kap tal-PN. John kien fuq quddiem nett biex dan iseħħ.

Imma mhux dan biss.

John  Camilleri kien wieħed minn team li rnexxielu jerġa’ jpoġġi r-ruħ soċjali tal-PN f’postha. B’konvinzjoni.

Ma’ John  Camilleri ħdimt fil-qrib meta għal sentejn jiena kont ir-rappreżentant elett tal-istudenti fil-Kunsill tal-Università fil-bidu tas-snin 80. John kien ir-rappreżentant elett tal-ħaddiema mhux akkademiċi tal-Universita fl-istess Kunsill. Niftakar ċar id-difiża li għamilna meta fil-Kunsill tal-Università  tressqet mozzjoni biex ikunu sospiżi l-ħaddiema (akkademiċi u mhux akkademiċi) li ħadu sehem fil-protesta tal-Imnarja f’Ġunju 1982.

Konna 4 biss mill-membri tal-Kunsill tal-Università li ivvutajna kontra dik is-sospensjoni: jiena, John Camilleri, l-Ispiżjar Maurice Debono (lecturer u rappreżentant elett tal-istaff akkademiku – miet xi snin ilu) u membru ieħor tal-Kunsill li kien nominat mill-Gvern li pero’ xorta ivvota kontra din is-sospensjoni. (Niftakar ċar li kien ġie bil-qegħda ħdejja speċifikament biex jurini kif kien qiegħed jivvota – il-votazzjoni kienet sigrieta.)

John kien bniedem mimli enerġija li użaha biex iwassal messaġġ ċar: nibnu soċjeta’ ġdida b’rispett sħiħ lejn id-dinja tax-xogħol.

John insellimlek.

Is-sabar lill-martu, lill-uliedu, lill-ħutu u lill-familjari tiegħu.

Fl-Armier la tisraqx l-elettriku, imma dwar l-art “jirranġawlek”

armier smart metres

Tajjeb għamlet il-Korporazzjoni Enemalta li ser tistalla smart meters fejn diġa’ hemm provista tal-elettriku fil-boathouses tal-Armier mibnija b’mod illegali. Il-Korporazzjoni Enemalta qed tagħti messaġġ qawwi lil kulħadd. Kemm li dawk li qed jużaw il-boathouses imma iktar u iktar lill-Gvern.

Il-Korporazzjoni Enemalta qed tgħid li mhux ser tittollera s-serq tal-elettriku. La tisraqx l-elettriku għax “bl-ismart meter ser naqbduk”, qed tgħid il-Korporazzjoni Enemalta.

Imma l-Gvern, kemm dak tal-lum immexxi minn Joseph Muscat (kif ukoll dawk tal-bieraħ immexxija minn Lawrence Gonzi u Eddie Fenech Adami) qed jagħti messaġġ differenti. Messaġġ imsaħħah b’diversi ftehim bejn l-Assoċjazzjoni tal-Boathouses tal-Aħrax tal-Mellieħa  u l-partiti l-kbar (jiġifieri l-Partit Nazzjonalista u l-Partit Laburista). Il-Gvern jgħinek billi jagħlaq għajnejh għas-serq ta’ art pubblika.

Mela : tisraqx l-elettriku, imma jekk trid tisraq l-art fl-Armier il-Gvern lest li jgħinek. Jekk sraqt l-art, qed jgħidlek, nirranġaw.

Jekk trid taqra iktar dwar dan is-suġġett f’dan il-blog aqra is-segwenti:

Il-Partit Laburista u Ġorġ Abela

Alfred Sant, George Abela and George Vella

Diversi huma l-persuni li jikkummentaw li meta fl-2004 Lawrence Gonzi għażel li jinnomina lill-Eddie Fenech Adami bħala President tar-Repubblika għamel żball. L-argument dejjem kien li m’huwiex fl-interess nazzjonali li persuna li għal snin twal kienet fuq quddiem nett fit-taqbida politika jkun appuntat f’kariga li tissimbolizza l-għaqda nazzjonali.

Naqbel perfettament ma dan l–argument. Avolja Fenech Adami kien President tajjeb u qeda dmiru b’mod impekkabbli.

Li ma jingħadx imma, ħafna drabi hu, li qabel ma Lawrence Gonzi  innomina lil EFA fl-2004 kien diġa ippropona lil Ġorg Abela.

Dakinnhar il-Partit Laburista ma kienx irreaġixxa għal din in-nomina iżda minflok ippropona numru ta’ persuni oħra.

Ir-raġuni għal dan ovvjament qegħda fil-posizzjoni li ħa Ġorġ Abela (dakinnhar Deputat Mexxej tal-Partit) fil-Konferenza Ġenerali tal-Partit Laburista fis-sajf tal-1998.  Fil-Konferenza Ġenerali Ġorg Abela kien oppona li Alfred Sant ixolji l-Parlament u jsejjaħ elezzjoni.

Filwaqt li posizzjoni ta’ Ġorg  Abela dakinnhar kienet waħda iebsa ħafna tant li ħabbar li jekk il-Labour imur għal elezzjoni bikrija kien fi ħsiebu jirreżenja minn Deputat Mexxej tal-Partit jingħad li fl-istrutturi interni tal-Partit Laburista ftit siegħat qabel il-Konferenza Ġenerali b’mod unanimu d-diriġenti tal-Partit kienu qablu mal-ħtieġa ta’ elezzjoni bikrija.

Ma irnexxilix nikkonferma jekk Ġorġ Abela kienx preżenti għal din il-laqgħa li wasslet għal qbil unanimu. Bosta jsostnu li kien preżenti, li ha sehem f’dik il-laqgħa u għal xi raġuni, wara, bidel il-posizzjoni tiegħu.

Punt interessanti dan li ħadd għadu ma spjega.  Ġara x’ġara jidher li lil Ġorġ Abela hemm min ma ħafirlu qatt. Iż-żmien biss inessi u jfejjaq

Sustainable water policy required

rainwater harvesting

Malta needs a sustainable water policy that is implemented rather than just being talked about.

A sustainable water policy has a long-term view. Addressing today’s needs, it keeps in focus the requirements of future generations. It would protect all our sources of water while ensuring that this basic resource is valued as an essential prerequisite for life. Without water, life does not exist. With poor quality water or with depleted water resources we are faced with an inferior quality of life.

Measures to protect the water table are being implemented at a snail’s pace and risk being in place only when there is nothing left to protect. The number of metered boreholes is too little. The electronic tracking of water bowsers transporting ground water is stalled.

Alternattiva Demokratika considers that national institutions have been ineffective as the handling of groundwater is still a free for all.

Rainwater harvesting has been neglected for a long time. Building development, large and small, has ignored rainwater harvesting obligations. These obligations have been in place on a national level for over 130 years. However, they are more honoured in the breach.

Many residential units constructed in the past 40 years have no water cisterns. Consequently, rainwater is discharged onto our streets or directly into the public sewers. Flooding of streets and overflowing sewers are the result.

The Government has decided to tackle this by applying public funds to a problem created mostly by private developers. Through the storm water relief projects funded primarily by the European Union, the Government will, in effect, exempt the culprits. Instead of the polluter pays it will be the (European) taxpayers who will pay, thereby exempting the polluter from his responsibilities!

The developers have pocketed the profits while the taxpayer will foot the bill. This is the result of successive governments lacking the political will to penalise the culprits.

In addition, rainwater discharged into the public sewer is overloading the three sewage purification plants now in operation and, consequently, increasing their operating costs during the rainy season. These increased costs are shouldered by all of us, partly as an integral part of our water bills and the rest gobbling up state subsidies to the Water Services Corporation. This is due to the fact that water bills are a reflection of the operating costs of the WSC, which include the management of the public sewer and its contents!

Storm water plays havoc with residential areas, especially those constructed in low lying areas or valleys carved by nature for its own use and taken over by development throughout the years! Overdevelopment means that land through which the water table recharged naturally was reduced considerably throughout the past 40 years. Instead, storm water now gushes through areas with heavy concentrations of nitrates which end up charging the aquifer. A report by the British Geological Society has identified a 40-year cycle as a result of which it would take about 40 years of adherence to the EU Nitrates Directive to give back a clean bill of health to Malta’s water table.

Treated sewage effluent is being discharged into the sea. Being treated means that, for the first time in many years, our bathing waters are up to standard. But it also means that we are discharging into the sea millions of litres of treated sewage effluent that, with proper planning, could have been used as an additional water source for a multitude of uses. Instead, it is being discarded as waste.

After the sewage treatment plants were commissioned as an end-of-pipe solution at the far ends of the public sewer, the authorities started having second thoughts on the possible uses of treated sewage effluent. At this late stage, however, this signifies that means of transporting the treated sewage to the point of use have to be identified (at a substantial cost) when the issue could have been solved at the drawing board by siting a number of small treatment plants at points of use.

This could obviously not be done as the Government has no idea of what sustainable development is about. The Government led by Lawrence Gonzi excels in speaking on sustainable development, yet, he has failed miserably in embedding it in his Government’s method of operation.

I have not forgotten the speech from the throne read on May 10, 2008, by President Eddie Fenech Adami, on behalf of the Government, outlining the objectives of the legislature that is fast approaching its last days. The President had then stated: “The Government’s plans and actions are to be underpinned by the notion of sustainable development of the economy, of society and of the environment. When making decisions today, serious consideration will be given to the generations of tomorrow.”

In water policy, the Nationalist-led Government has failed miserably. The mess that it leaves behind is clear proof that during the past 25 years it has taken decisions that have completely ignored tomorrow’s generations.

Is-sistema ta’ żewġ partiti bdiet tikkrolla?

Silta mill-intervista li Andrew Azzopardi ghamel lil Carmel Cacopardo.

Jekk trid tara l-intervista kollha :

aghfas hawn ghall-ewwel parti

aghfas hawn ghat-tieni parti.

Mistoqsija : Dak li ġara fil-Parlament taħseb seħħ ghax kien hemm maġġoranza ta’ siġġu wieħed?  Jekk iva, ma taħsibx illi dan kien ifisser li  hija kważi impossibbli biex koalizzjoni tirnexxi?

Tweġiba : Il-mistoqsija tiegħek tixhed preġudizzju kontra anke’ l-idea ta’ koalizzjoni. Dwarha aħna hawn Malta m’għandna l-ebda esperjenza mill-Indipendenza lil hawn. Fl-Ewropa kollha fi kważi kull pajjiż (ħlief l-Italja)  hemm riżultati posittivi li nkisbu tul is-snin bħala riżultat tal-politika tal-kunsens. Anke’ f’San Marino!

Ħares lejn il-Ġermanja, Danimarka, Finlandja, Norveġja, Iżlanda, Awstrija, Olanda, Franza, Portugall, ………….. Riċentment  r-Renju Unit ukoll beda jitgħallem kif iħaddem koalizzjoni.

M’hux l-ewwel darba li partit politiku kellu maġġoranza ta’ siġġu wieħed fil-Parlament Malti. Fl-1971 Mintoff kellu siġġu wieħed u ħlief inċident wieħed li kien jinvolvi lil Pawlu Carachi (meta talab siġġu fin-nofs) ma kienx hemm.

Fl-1987 il-PN ukoll kellu siġġu wieħed maġġoranza. Ma kellu l-ebda diffikulta.

Id-diffikultajiet inqalgħu fil-leġislatura tal-1996 u f’dik tal-lum. F’kull każ mhux id-differenza ta’ siġġu wieħed kienet il-kawża iżda l-instabilita’ tas-sistema taż-żewġ partiti. Kemm fil-leġislatura 1996-98 kif ukoll fil-leġislatura attwali d-diffikultajiet fil-maġġoranża li tappoġġa lill-Gvern inħolqu għax f’kull wieħed miż-żewġ partiti  hemm diverġenza enormi fil- ħsieb u fil-metodu .

Il-kliem li kien intqal li Mintoff per eżempju fl-1996 kellu programm politiku għalih għandu jinftiehm fis-sens illi l-ideat u l-ideali  tiegħu (u ta’ oħrajn) kienet tvarja b’mod sostanzjali minn dik tal-Partit li minnu kien jifforma parti.

L-istess qed jiġri llum fil-PN. Id-diskussjoni u deċiżjoni dwar id-divorzju forsi tillustra s-sitwazzjoni u l-qasma ideologika fi ħdan il-PN. Qasma li kull ma tmur tikber għax il-ġenerazzjonijiet il-ġodda m’humiex ser joqgħdu lura milli jesprimu dak li jaħsbu u dan irrispettivament minn dak li jgħidu u jagħmlu l-mexxejja tal-partiti politiċi.

Fi ftit kliem it-tweġiba għalqstant hi li dak li qed jiġri illum m’huwiex riżultat ta’ maġġoranza ta’ siġġu wieħed. Huwa iżda il-konkluzjoni loġika tal-fraġilita’ tas-sistema ta’ żewġ partiti liema sistema bdiet tikkrolla.

L-isqaq

silta minn intervista li Andrew Azzopardi għamel lil Carmel Cacopardo ippubblikata 7 ta’ Lulju 2012.

Jekk trid tara l-ewwel parti tal-intervista għafas hawn.

Mistoqsija :

Taħseb li l-Partit Nazzjonalista ħa jirnexxilu joħroġ minn dan l-isqaq li sab ruħu fih?

Tweġiba

L-egħruq ta’ dak li qed jiġri illum fil-PN issibhom fl-ewwel xhur tal-2004.

Meta Lawrence Gonzi ġie elett Kap tal-PN għamel l-iżball li flok fittex li jintegra fit-tmexxija l-ġdida tal-PN lill-kontestanti l-oħra (Louis Galea u John Dalli) spiċċa b’Tonio Borg bħala l-Viċi tiegħu. Issa Tonio għalkemm fuq livell personali hu persuna mill-aħjar, kif ukoll ta’ integrita’ indiskussa, mhux kapaċi jmexxi. Qatt ma tajjar nar. Gonzi spiċċa b’John Dalli emarġinat u b’Louis Galea l-bogħod mill-magna tal-Partit.

Gonzi jidher li ma rrealizzax li Eddie Fenech Adami  kien b’suċċess assigura illi dawk li kkontestaw miegħu għat-tmexxija tal-PN kienu involuti madwaru: Guido de Marco bħala Viċi Kap u Ċensu Tabone bħala President tal-Eżekuttiv. Eddie Fenech Adami kien ukoll kapaċi jisma’ l-kritika b’attenzjoni: ma kienx hyper-sensitive għall-kritika.

B’Louis Galea jew John Dalli Viċi Kap tal-PN flok Tonio Borg, il-PN illum kien ikun partit ftit differenti, mhux bla problemi imma ċertament mhux fi sqaq. Dan l-iżball Gonzi għadu jġorr l-effetti tiegħu sal-lum.

It-team ta’ madwar Gonzi minn l-ewwel ġurnata fittex li jipprattika l-politika ta’ winner takes all. Mhux biss, talli hemm dubju serju illi l-qlajjiet li wasslu għar-riżenja ta’ John Dalli jafu l-oriġini tagħhom madwar it-team li ħadem għal Lawrence Gonzi.

Biex il-PN joħroġ minn dan l-isqaq jeħtieġ mexxej ġdid li jħares b’mod oġġettiv lejn ideat differenti. Irid ikun xi ħadd li għandu egħruq fondi fil-partit, ħaġa li Lawrence Gonzi qatt ma kellu. Billi qatt ma kellu dawn l-egħruq Lawrence kien dipendenti iżżejjed fuq ta’ madwaru biex iħoss il-polz tal-Partit!

Biex joħroġ minn dan l-isqaq il-PN jeħtieġlu s-snin. Il-Labour ilu 25 sena fl-isqaq u s’issa għadu l-anqas ħareġ.

Ir-referendum dwar id-divorzju : Riflessjonijiet (3) Koabitazzjoni

28% tal-elettorat ma għamilx użu mill-vot.

Kont nippreferi li kieku ivvutaw iktar nies għax nemmen fil-vot bħala l-ikbar għodda għall-bidla mill-qiegħ li dan il-pajjiż għad għandu bżonn. Imma qatt ma jiena ser nasal biex ngħid li min ma vvutax kien irresponsabbli kif għamel Mons Anton Gouder.

Meta nipprova nifhem għaliex in-nies ma vvutatx insaħħah il-fehma tiegħi.

Dawk li ma ivvutawx  jidher li prinċipalment għamlu hekk għax ħassewhom mhedda mill-Knisja u mill-aġenti tagħha, dawk tal-LE. It-theddid dwar id-dnub, it-tqarbin lill-anzjani, insulti dwar briganti u ilpup liebsin ta’ nagħaġ.

Sfortunatament il-Knisja f’Malta wasslet il-messaġġ li m’hiex kapaċi tikkoeżisti ma min għandu opinjoni differenti. Wasslet il-messaġġ li hi interessata biss f’sitwazjoni fejn tiddomina u tiddetta. Trid li l-valuri li tmexxi l-quddiem is-soċjeta jkunu esklussivament dawk li tapprova hi. Għadha Knisja tal-poter li tippretendi li tordna u tbezza’.  Messaġġ li l-iktar ħareg ċar bil-mod kif  ġieb ruħu l-Vigarju Ġudizzjarju Mons Arthur Said Pullicino: l-ewwel bil-prietka lill-avukati, l-maġistrati u l-imħalfin  fejn ħeġġiġhom li għandhom ikunu minn ta’ l-ewwel li jinvokaw l-oġġezzjoni tal-kuxjenza . Wara kompla bid-deċiżjoni li ċ-Chairman  tal-Moviment IVA  l-Avukat  Deborah Schembri  ma tistax tipprattika fit-Tribunali Ekklesjastiċi.

Il-vot tar-referendum ifisser ukoll vot kontra l-poter temporali tal-Knisja f’Malta. Poter li de facto l-Gvernijiet ta’ Fenech Adami u Gonzi fittxew li jindukraw. Għax bħalma fis-snin 70 u 80 kellna l-Gvern Laburista u l-General Workers Union li kienu miżżewġin (u spiċċaw bid-divorzju fl-1992), illum il-ġurnata għandna l-Gvern  Nazzjonalista u l-Kurja li jagħtu l-impressjoni li qed jikkoabitaw.
